The Masterworks Singers is a community choir based in Austin, Texas comprised of roughly 80 musicians. The group began in 2007 and was hosted at St. Edwards University until 2021 and is now hosted at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Northwest Hills, Austin. The Masterworks Singers is comprised of singers of all musical backgrounds, and all are welcomed regardless of experience.
Each year, the group performs a concert in the Spring and in the Fall. The Masterworks Singers have performed at various churches around Austin including St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, St. Williams Catholic Church, St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, St. John Neumann Catholic Church, St. Martins Lutheran Church, and St. Theresa Catholic Church. In addition, the Masterworks Singers have toured the Hill Country to Fredericksburg to perform at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
In addition to singing around Austin, the Masterworks Singers have toured to other cities in the nation, including New York City (2008) as well as various countries including: Ireland (2011), Scotland (2013), Spain & Portugal (2015), the Scandinavia countries of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden (2017), and the Baltic States of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia as well as Finland (2019).

Dr. H. Morris Stevens, Director

Dr. H. Morris Stevens, Jr., is the Director of Music Ministry at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Austin, Texas. In May 2020, he retired from St. Edward’s University where he served for 13 years as Head of the Music Department. While at St. Edward’s University, he founded the Masterworks Project, which became a leading Community Outreach Music program consisting of a large Chorus and full Orchestra. During those 13 years, the Masterworks toured every two years, and gave concerts in such countries as Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland.
Dr. Stevens is recognized as a clinician/conductor of Honor Choirs in many states and adjudicates choral competitions nationally. Throughout his career he has commissioned many new choral works from outstanding composers. The Masterworks Singers have so far, commissioned four major works with the support of the Edward D. Anderson fund.
Dr. Stevens is most proud of his wonderful family, his wife Polly, his children, Sarah, Patrick and Rebekah, their wonderful spouses, and his six grandchildren, Ruaridh, Genevieve, Bernadette, Margot, Murray & Ruby.
